Girls OYB Tryout Information

Oconomowoc Youth Girls Basketball Tryouts

Tryouts for Oconomowoc girls youth basketball will be held on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15 at the OHS Fieldhouse. Please pre-register by clicking the link below.

Register your daughter for OYB tryouts!

September 14 @ OHS Fieldhouse:

3rd, 4th and 5th grade - 2:00-3:30 pm

6th, 7th and 8th grade - 3:30-5:00 pm

September 15 @ OHS Fieldhouse:

3rd, 4th and 5th grade - 12:00-1:30 pm

6th, 7th and 8th grade - 1:30-3:00 pm

*There will be a brief informational meeting in the cafeteria for parents during your daughter's tryout. You only need to attend this once.

September 19 @ OHS Fieldhouse:

6:00-7:00 pm

Make up date only for those who were unable to make it the 14th or 15th.

There will be a $10.00 fee charged for the tryout. (Cash or checks made payable to OYB)

Girls are encouraged to attend both try-out dates. If they are unable to attend both, one of the dates is required to have a fair opportunity to make a team.  Each girl will receive an Oconomowoc basketball t-shirt with a number on the back for the tryout.  She should wear it to all of the tryout dates she attends.

OYB Boys Basketball Tryout Information for 24-25 Season

OYB Tryouts will be held on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, with a make up date on Wednesday, July 31 at OHS Field House.  Please pass this along to anyone that might be interested in playing for OYB this next winter.  We can't wait to see you all at tryouts.

Saturday, July 27:

3rd & 8th grade - 8 to 9 am

4th & 7th grade - 9 to 10 am

5th & 6th grade - 10 to 11 am

Sunday, July 28:

3rd & 8th grade - 8 to 9 am

4th & 7th grade - 9 to 10 am

5th & 6th grade - 10 to 11 am

Wednesday, July 31 (Make up date - only attend if you missed the other two dates):

3rd, 4th & 5th Grade - 6 to 7 pm

6th, 7th, & 8th - 7 to 8 pm

Thursday, August 8 (Make up date - only attend if you missed the other two dates):

3rd, 4th & 5th Grade - 6 to 7 pm

6th, 7th, & 8th - 7 to 8 pm

Tryout fee is $10 (cash or check made out to OYB) includes tryout shirt.

Your child only needs to attend one of the tryout dates to be considered for an OYB team.

Brief informational meeting will take place for parents during your son's tryout in the OHS cafeteria.

Oconomowoc Girls Youth Basketball Camps

The Oconomowoc High School Girls Basketball Camp will offer sessions for girls entering grades 3-8.  The camp for grades 3 & 4, and 5 & 6 will be structured in a four day, week long camp.  Each day of camp will consist of warm-up, individual skill work, team play, and competitions.  The focus of the camp is to improve individual fundamentals like ball handling, passing, shooting, defense and overall knowledge of the game. 

FOR STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 3-4

Date:  June 10-June 13
Hours:
  8:00 - 9:15 a.m.
Location:  OHS Gale Douglas Field house
Instructors:  OHS Basketball Coaches and players
Fee:  $70 which includes a t-shirt

FOR STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 5-6

Date:  June 10-June 13

  9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

The Oconomowoc High School Girls Basketball Camp will offer sessions for girls entering grades 6, 7 and 8 will have the opportunity to attend 1 or 2 sessions consisting of three weeks each throughout the summer in combination with the O-Power program set for our middle school students.  6th grade students are able to register for the basketball sessions, however there is not a corresponding time for O-Power available for their grade level.  These sessions will be focused on the following skills to build fundamentals and overall skill development:

  • Specific drills focusing on development of ball handling, shooting and passing
  • Sessions that include game situations and competitive drills
  • Individual, small group, and large group instruction

FOR STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 6-8

Date:  June 17-July 3 (Session 1) & July 8-25 (Session 2)
Hours: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday prior to 7/8 O-Power
Location: OHS Gale Douglas Fieldhouse
Instructors:  OHS Basketball Coaches 
Fee: $200.00 for both sessions & includes a t-shirt, $110 for one session & includes a t-shirt

Online registration will be accepted through the OASD Web Store until the start of camp, however students who register by May 24, 2024, are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt. Registrations after May 24 are not guaranteed a shirt.

2s, Frees, & 3s is back in Oconomowoc on April 17

We are excited to once again partner with Steve Novak and 2's, Frees, and 3's to host a basketball shooting competition this spring.  On April 17 from 5-7 pm, come to Oconomowoc High School and show off your shooting skills.  This event is open to anyone and the competition is broken down into 5 divisions:

  • 9 & Under Division

  • 10 - 12 Division

  • 13 - 15 Division

  • 16 - 54 Division

  • 55+ Division

Top shooters from the regional competition will advance to compete in the sectional with the chance to earn a spot in the final state competition and a chance to win bragging rights and prizes!

Jr Raccoons Basketball Camp Returns in March

Who:    Boys & Girls from the Oconomowoc Area currently in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. Camp capacity is limited to 100 participants. First come, first serve basis.

What:  This camp will provide a unique opportunity for instruction on the fundamentals of basketball at the younger level.  Players will develop their skill level through drills run by the OHS coaches and players.  They will learn the game of basketball through competitive situations and games.

 

When:  March 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17

Boys Session: 8-9 am / Girls Session: 9-10 am
